Mark Wahlberg starts his day at 3.30 am and talks about his workout and diet regimen

Mark Wahlberg may be pushing 52 but there’s nothing stopping him from keeping super fit. He wakes up at 3.30 to work out, by the time most people start their day he has already worked out, done his prayers, had his breakfast, checked his email and is on the way to the golf course.

Wahlberg also has the physique of a young man as a result of his strict discipline. He attributes a lot of it to intermittent fasting and adjusting his diet.

In an interview with GQ magazine, he said, “I kinda splurge here and there, but it’s frustrating because later on in life I figure I found the secret to being able to eat more – or indulge more often – if I was intermittent fasting. ‘So, finding out about fasting when I was 50 years old was a little bit frustrating. I would eat a lot of small meals – buying into different philosophies at different times. But I feel like the fasting thing works the best.’”

Three meals for Wahlberg

Wahlberg said that he normally has all three meals within a six-hour window. He says he eats breakfast, lunch and dinner at noon, 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. respectively and all of that is within the window. He then has an eighteen-hour fast.

For meals, he has eggs, protein pancakes, smoked salmon and some pork chops. He also enjoys having chicken and bok choy for lunch followed by steak and fish for dinner with some kind of vegetable.

His weakness is actually cookies and chocolate which he does have during cheat meals. Wahlberg does two workouts a day personal trainer Brian Nguyen. His workout regimen consists of something called RAMP.

RAMP stands for a range of motion, activation, and movement prep – things like Spiderman stretch and hip bridges, plus foam rolling. Then we switch between bilateral and unilateral strength moves using mostly heavy bands. TRX, dumbbells, and kettlebells. The lower body work includes balance and agility drills.
