*NSYNC’s Joey Fatone opens up about hair plugs and fat removal procedures

Joey Fatone, at 46, openly acknowledges his pursuit of looking and feeling his best, unashamed of the cosmetic procedures he’s undergone. In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, he discusses how many men get work done but often keep it private due to shyness or embarrassment. Fatone, however, believes there’s no need to be ashamed and is open about his own experiences, stating, “Who cares?”

The singer and actor recently had fat removed from his chin and stomach through a procedure called AirSculpt and also opted for hair plugs, sharing that his hair had thinned a couple of years ago, which became a concern as he’s on television. He wanted to eliminate the need for hair spray to fill in thinning areas.

Fatone editing his looks a little bit

Fatone emphasizes that his goal isn’t to dramatically change his appearance or desperately pursue eternal youth. He merely wants to make subtle improvements, stating that he is not trying to change his look nor change who he is. He just wants to edit it a little bit.

He expresses pride in the results of the AirSculpting procedure, particularly in eliminating stubborn fat from his chin and belly. The recovery was quick, with no bruising, and he is pleased with the outcome.

Natural process of aging

Fatone, a father of two daughters, underscores that his motivation is to feel more comfortable in his clothes. He acknowledges the pressures in the entertainment industry regarding weight and appearance but asserts that he won’t drastically alter himself unless a role, like a Marvel movie, requires it. He believes there is room for diversity in every field and acknowledges the natural process of aging.

Fatone also discusses his recent projects, hosting roles, and the release of an *NSYNC song, “Better Place,” the first in 20 years. While there’s no official tour in the works for *NSYNC, he’s getting in shape for himself, as he recognizes that recovery and stamina aren’t what they used to be. He maintains a strong bond with his bandmates and may embark on a small city tour with AJ McLean from the Backstreet Boys.

Ultimately, Fatone’s perspective is that life is too short to worry excessively about appearance, and he’s open to collaborations and enjoying the journey.
