Donald Trump’s ex lawyer and one time fixer Michael Cohen gave a dire warning last week (November 24) about what Americans can expect if Trump is re-elected to become president next year.
Speaking on his podcast Mea Culpa, on which his guest was Maryland Democrat representative Jamie Raskin, Cohen spoke about what would happen to democracy if Trump comes into office.
“A vote for Donald Trump is a vote for the end of democracy. And I personally don’t want to be led around. I don’t want anybody telling me, as they’re already doing right now, what you can and can’t do in your bedroom.
Ominous or ridiculous prediction?
He said that people will suddenly get a knock on their doors and it’s going to be Trump’s ‘brown shirts’ pulling you out and sending you to Guantanamo Bay.
Cohen said that he knows it sounds extreme but it’s only because he knows Trump really well.
Cohen may not be very far off the mark if Trump’s latest comments are anything to go by although Trump supporters say that Cohen has just flipped and is unreliable as he wants to go against his former boss.
Vermins
Recently Trump’s statement about various groups in the United States being vermin reminded people of Nazi-ruled Germany.
According to the Washington Post, Trump has been toying with the idea of using the Insurrection Act on day one of his second term to allow for deployment of military force to quash protests against him.
Former Secretary of Defense Mark Esper who served from 2019 to 2020 under Trump told CNN that Trump had the ability to legally suppress dissent in this manner if he is re-elected.
