Win New Hampshire’s independent voters is part of Nikki Haley’s strategy

New Hampshire

In the high-stakes presidential race,  Nikky Haley’s strategy is to win New Hampshire’s critical independent voters. Thus, supporters are pouring soft money into a strategic campaign targeting the state’s undeclared electorate, comprising 40% of voters.

Targeting New Hampshire

Independent voters, numbering 399,395, have the potential to surpass registered Republicans (298,470) on election day.

Backers of the former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley, utilizing super PACs with unlimited campaign contribution capabilities, are capitalizing on her broad anti-Trump appeal and moderate stance to sway independent voters.

A recently launched PAC, led by affluent business executives, initiated the “Independents for Nikki” initiative, injecting millions into efforts to secure Haley’s standing with undeclared voters.

Boost independent turnout

The strategic approach involves a targeted effort to boost independent turnout, starting in New Hampshire, according to Bonnie Anderson, one of the PAC’s founders, who believes Haley is the most electable candidate in the race.

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, placing New Hampshire as the linchpin of his campaign, echoes the sentiment, emphasizing the importance of the primary in the absence of a competitive Democratic contest. Currently trailing Haley and former President Trump in the polls, Christie urges voters to make an impact in the GOP primary.

Trump still leading

The stakes are high for Haley, as Trump maintains a dominant lead nationally and in New Hampshire. A victory in the Granite State could be Haley’s crucial opportunity to thwart Trump’s momentum. Robert Schwartz of Primary Pivot emphasizes the need for a competitive race in at least one of the early states, as a Trump triumph in both Iowa and New Hampshire could effectively secure the nomination.

Battle for independent voters

As soft money continues to flow into New Hampshire, the battle for independent voters intensifies, shaping up to be a pivotal chapter in the unfolding drama of the 2024 Republican primary.
