Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi dies in helicopter crash, users suspicious

Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi has died after his helicopter crashed in a mountainous area during poor weather. The 63-year-old conservative leader was nearly three years into his presidency and appeared poised for re-election next year.

According to Al Jazeera, Raisi, a former chief justice, was seen as a potential successor to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Born in Mashhad, he underwent religious education in Qom and wore a black turban, signifying his alleged descent from the Prophet Muhammad.

Raisi served as a prosecutor, attorney general, and head of Astan Quds Razavi. He ran for president in 2017, was appointed head of the judiciary in 2019, and was known for his anti-corruption stance.

However, several users speculate that this was no accident, they feel that this is an act of unalivement. But, there is no actual proof to this claim. Furthermore, these speculations are raised from Iran’s recent involvement in the Middle Eastern conflict, and a tragedy like this happening there after.

Additionally, others state that the incident needs to have a strong investigation in lieu of the suspicious incidents. Despite this, the sanctions towards the country are still going on, and it involves the purchase of aircrafts and avionics. It is unclear how old the helicopter was, but there could possibly be some technical issues involved.
