In a dramatic escalation of his long-standing feud with Tesla short sellers, Elon Musk delivered a blunt ultimatum to sceptics like Bill Gates: “Prepare to be obliterated.”

Musk, known for his outspoken disdain towards those betting against Tesla’s success, condemned short selling as antithetical to genuine investment principles.

Despite waves of criticism and skepticism over the years, Tesla has persisted as a lightning rod for short interest, with detractors often alleging financial deceit and impending collapse.

Musk vs. Tesla short sellers

While many short sellers have abandoned their positions in recent years, a resilient faction remains unconvinced of Tesla’s viability. Musk, however, predicts escalating losses for these holdouts as Tesla advances its Full Self-Driving technology and prepares to unveil its humanoid robot, Optimus.

Tesla’s pivotal announcement scheduled for August 8 promises a major stride in autonomy with the debut of its Robotaxi, despite historical skepticism surrounding Tesla’s product timelines.

Despite these challenges, Tesla remains at the forefront of semi-autonomous driving technology, leveraging its extensive neural network data from Autopilot and Full Self-Driving systems to enhance performance continually.

Elon Musk vs. sceptics

Today, Tesla’s stock surged over 9 percent on robust quarterly delivery figures, underscoring investor confidence amid a broader 30 percent gain over the past month and a staggering 1,300 percent rise in the last five years.

As Musk’s warnings reverberate through financial markets, the battleground between Tesla’s visionaries and its sceptics grows ever fiercer.

Dan Ives, a renowned strategist at Wedbush, has recently revised Tesla’s 12-month target price upwards from $275 to $300, representing a nearly 30% increase over the current stock price. Additionally, Ives anticipates the stock reaching $400 by 2025.
